I’ve already talked about psychological drivers, and the many ways we learn to cope as children, in order to survive and get our needs met. This can involve a lot of adaption, in order to stay OK with our caregivers. You can read here about the types of drivers.

The way you learned to be, is not a reflection on you, but rather a sophisticated set of thoughts, feelings and behaviours which helped you stay safe during your earliest childhood years. The thing is that, we take these behavioural scripts and patterns into adulthood and this is often when we realise that the things that have always helped, can also be problematic. And when we recognise this, we sometimes need the eyes and ears of someone else to figure out why we are doing what we are doing and how to learn new ways of being.
